The ideal candidate will play a pivotal role in leading the conceptualization, design, engineering, and validation of BIW structures and welding fixtures, employing SolidWorks expertise and a profound understanding of MIG welding components.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Team Leadership and Guidance:
• Lead a team of engineers and designers, overseeing the entire development process.
• Provide expert guidance in concept design, engineering feasibility, and validation stages,
emphasizing SolidWorks proficiency and in-depth knowledge of MIG welding fixtures.
2. Decision Making and Project Management:
• Lead the team in decision-making for components, assemblies, and make-versus-buy discussions, specifically focusing on MIG welding & BIW fixtures.
• Balance cost, weight, and quality considerations, ensuring timely delivery at each milestone.
3. Engineering Activities:
• Execute detail engineering, validation plans, and tooling feasibility, with a particular emphasis on MIG welding fixture design.
• Evaluate tooling, conduct initial quality checks, and ensure BIW & MIG welding component sign-offs.
4. CAD Modelling and Design Validation:
• Oversee CAD modeling and 3D annotations of exterior trim components and assemblies, ensuring on-time delivery using SolidWorks expertise, especially in the context of MIG welding fixtures.
5. Post-Design Support and Continuous Improvement:
• Provide post-design engineering support, leading efforts to resolve manufacturing, quality, weight, and cost-related activities, specifically focusing on MIG welding fixtures.
• Drive initiatives for process improvements, VAVE (Value Analysis/Value Engineering), and weight reduction strategies, particularly in the domain of welding fixtures.
Requirements:
• Proficiency in SolidWorks software demonstrated ability in Bill of Materials (BOM) generation, and Technical Product Lists (TPL) related to feature lists, specifically for BIW and MIG welding fixture design.
• Strong knowledge of Design Failure Mode and Effects Analysis (DFMEA), Design Verification Plan (DVP), Design for Manufacturability (DFM), Design for Assembly (DFA), and Design for Serviceability (DFS) in the context of welding fixtures.
• Expertise in forming, and tooling of sheet metal parts, in-depth understanding of MIG welding fixtures, material selection, and plastics assembly and joining technology.
• Ability to assess work scopes, estimating resource and skill set requirements for effective project execution in BIW and MIG welding fixture design.
Qualifications:
• Bachelor’s/Master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field.
• Proven experience in leading BIW & MIG Welding line design and engineering with a minimum of one complete project design.
• This role presents an exciting opportunity for a proficient Team Leader to contribute to a dynamic team and actively shape the development of innovative automotive solutions, specifically in BIW and MIG welding fixture design.
